Flow-Tech Water Treatment

Calcium and magnesium, when dissolved into water, are the two most common minerals to make water “hard”. When water moves through rock and soil, it will dissolve a small amount of minerals and will hold them in solution. When hard water is effectively used in your water systems, it can also cause great inefficiencies and actually cost you more to operate home appliances. By heating and reheating the water, it will contribute to the scale of the calcium and magnesium buildup and will cause your appliances to use more energy throughout the home. Pipes can also be clogged due to the buildup and will reduce the water flow throughout the house.

There is another new innovative solution to treating hard water in your home. It’s called Flow-Tech Waters systems and it’s revolutionizing the water treatment world. Not only does this system control the limescale buildup of magnesium and calcium but is also maintenance-free and eco-friendly. We encourage our customers to take advantage of this extraordinary product. At Preferred Plumbing Solutions, we will provide you with an extended warranty on all plumbing services work done in your home when installed concurrently with a Flow-Tech Water System installation. It will protect your piping system and render the minerals harmless and water will be less aggressive.

Water Efficiency
What the Flow-Tech system does is use a low-frequency signal emitted several thousand times per second and proliferated throughout the entire plumbing system. It will protect your piping system and render the minerals harmless and water will be less aggressive. As a result, any work we do in your home will last longer and run more efficiently.

Backwater Valve

A mainline backwater valve is placed directly into the sewer lateral at the foot of your basement wall. The device allows sewage to flow in only one direction – out of your house. When sewage begins to move toward your basement, the valve closes. Installation of the backwater valve may reduce the cost of insurance or be required as a condition of insurability. This valve is installed directly into the sanitary sewer lateral, and serves to protect all home plumbing fixtures from sewer backup.

Like other parts of your home, backwater valves require periodic maintenance to ensure proper performance. An improperly maintained valve may fail during a flood. Most mainline backwater valves come with a see-through top so you can check to see if it is clogged with debris. The valve should be checked regularly to ensure that it will function properly when it is needed. You will likely need the help of a qualified master plumber to carry out maintenance, repair and replacements of the valve.

Directing Sewage To One Direction

A mainline backwater valve is placed directly into the sewer lateral at the foot of your basement wall, allowing sewage to flow in only one direction – out of your house. When sewage begins to move toward your basement, the valve closes. Some municipalities offer subsidies to offset the cost of installing a backwater valve, as long as you follow their rules.

Backwater Valve In Your Home

Proper placement and installation of the backwater valve is extremely important. If placed in the wrong location relative to other plumbing fixtures on the sanitary lateral, the valve could be bypassed and provide no protection. This can in turn lead to sewer backup pressure which can cause cracks to the basement floor and lead to flooding.
