Residential Plumbing Services

We provide a variety of residential services to our customers including:

Water distribution pex pipe upgrades
Water distribution upgrading is a procedure that involves removing all or some of a homes’ existing copper or galvanized steel water distribution piping and then replacing it with a superior piping system known as PEX piping. Most dwellings that are at least 10 years old have a copper piping water distribution system and, although it may be a functioning system, there are many longevity and health issues with it.

Noisy pipe fixes
The leading cause of noisy pipes is something that we in the plumbing industry call “water hammer”. Water hammer is the shock vibration of the water passing through the piping system when faucets are being turned on and off.

Water supply optimization
As potable water travels through a copper piping system there are many drawbacks such as drastic changes in direction which restrict water volume. When water encounters resistance it causes reduced volume and pressure.

Blocked Drain
A blocked drain is a result of debris build-up in your toilet, shower or sink and can cause damage to your bathroom or kitchen floor due to flooding. Your plumbing system does a lot of work throughout any given day and when clogging happens, it disrupts the flow of your piping and plumbing systems. If left alone, it can lead to a bigger emergency plumbing situation.

Drain Replacement
Dealing with a drain replacement is a common fear in most homes as they can cause flooding in a basement or a waterlog in a bathroom due to leaks. Having a proper maintenance plan of action to ensure your pipes don’t get clogged can go a long way to your pipes’ longevity in your home.

Toilet Installation
When a toilet has reached the end of its rope and are showing signs of age through cracks and leaks, it might be time for a new toilet installation. Some toilets show signs of age, when the shade of blue starts to fade or uses more water than it should. At Preferred Plumbing, we will always assist with any toilet installation issues you might encounter – large or small!

Supply and installation of pressure-assisted toilets
A power flush, or pressure-assisted, toilets use less water than a traditional toilet but will flush with more force than a standard powered toilet. When someone flushes, a pressure is released, forcing water into the bowl at a high velocity. While these toilets are very different from your traditional toilets inside, on the outside they are almost identical and the installation procedure is just about the same.

Plumbing modifications
Most days the plumbing system will run smoothly, but sometimes there will be faults in the system which will require professional assistance. As homeowners, there will always be cosmetic changes to your home through new fixtures or upgrading your pipe systems.

Hot Water Tap Outside
Using an eco-friendly outdoor water tap installation, it will help control the water use you distribute throughout your home through the summer months. We will ensure everything is up to code and you can use your outdoor water tap with little or no consequence to the environment or your water bill.

Hot Water Tank Settings
Living in Canada, your hot water tank heat setting and temperature can have effects on your health on a few spectrums. The Ontario building code for your hot water temperature should be set anywhere between 45-60 degrees Celsius.

Drain Hot Water Tank
One of the most overlooked chores homeowners should do regularly is drain a hot water tank. Easy to pass by, your water tank accumulates mineral deposits and filth over time. By draining your hot water tank, it allows for it to run more efficiently and prolong its shelf life.

Sump Pump Replacement
Having your sump pump replacements in check can save your home from basement damage and we highly recommend taking all the necessary steps to get this done. Hiring a plumber to have it serviced and maintained can and will go a long way to protecting your home permanently.

Emergency Plumbing Services

Burst Pipe
Every home in Canada is built with an intricate labyrinth of pipes, flowing water to all the different parts of your home. Your pipes are strong enough to stay solid throughout its duration, but oftentimes too much stress will cause the pipes to break open, causing major water leakage and damage to your property.

Blocked Drain
At one time or another, many customers have been faced with a clogged kitchen sink and have been puzzled by how it seemingly happened overnight. A clogged bathroom sink or kitchen sink is often a result of a slow buildup in the system.

Toilet Leaking At The Base
When your toilet leaks at the base, this will lead to water build up and eventually water damage. A professional technician will be able to assess the leak and locate the source and deal with it appropriately.

Shower Problems
The shower is a focal part of your bathroom and especially during the winter months you might be taking multiple hot showers a day. Nothing is more frustrating than a nonworking shower. A malfunctioning shower is not only an inconvenience but can also cause unwanted water damage to your bathroom.

Bad Smell
A bad odour can be emitted as a result of clogs, pipe blockages, and bacteria can be eliminated in a number of ways. You can plug the sink, fill it with hot water or add bleach and pour it down the drain.

Water Leak Detection
Some causes of water damage sources might include: a burst pipe, a clogged toilet, failing water heater or a broken supply line under your sink or faucet. Clearly, detecting a water leak in its early stages will help mitigate and eliminate large amounts of water damage, so it’s important to have the right tools in place to prevent this.

Leaky Faucets
Faucets are used every day and are an important part of your every day. Having them run consistently in your home is of utmost importance. A leaky faucet does not only add to your water bill and cause some unnecessary anxiety, but the sound of the constant dripping of a water tap can surely drive you crazy!

Clogged Sink
A clogged sink buildup can become so onerous that it will cause your sink to clog at any given moment and without warning. A sink can only handle so much but with that sort of eventual buildup, will cause it to be clogged and overflow and wreak havoc on your system.

Water Leak
When encountered with a water leak in your home, it can lead to potential disaster, which can lead to long-term effects and a lot of money down the road.

Flow-Tech Water Treatment

Calcium and magnesium, when dissolved into water, are the two most common minerals to make water “hard”. When water moves through rock and soil, it will dissolve a small amount of minerals and will hold them in solution. When hard water is effectively used in your water systems, it can also cause great inefficiencies and actually cost you more to operate home appliances. By heating and reheating the water, it will contribute to the scale of the calcium and magnesium buildup and will cause your appliances to use more energy throughout the home. Pipes can also be clogged due to the buildup and will reduce the water flow throughout the house.

There is another new innovative solution to treating hard water in your home. It’s called Flow-Tech Waters systems and it’s revolutionizing the water treatment world. Not only does this system control the limescale buildup of magnesium and calcium but is also maintenance-free and eco-friendly. We encourage our customers to take advantage of this extraordinary product. At Preferred Plumbing Solutions, we will provide you with an extended warranty on all plumbing services work done in your home when installed concurrently with a Flow-Tech Water System installation. It will protect your piping system and render the minerals harmless and water will be less aggressive.

Water Efficiency
What the Flow-Tech system does is use a low-frequency signal emitted several thousand times per second and proliferated throughout the entire plumbing system. It will protect your piping system and render the minerals harmless and water will be less aggressive. As a result, any work we do in your home will last longer and run more efficiently.

Backwater Valve

A mainline backwater valve is placed directly into the sewer lateral at the foot of your basement wall. The device allows sewage to flow in only one direction – out of your house. When sewage begins to move toward your basement, the valve closes. Installation of the backwater valve may reduce the cost of insurance or be required as a condition of insurability. This valve is installed directly into the sanitary sewer lateral, and serves to protect all home plumbing fixtures from sewer backup.

Like other parts of your home, backwater valves require periodic maintenance to ensure proper performance. An improperly maintained valve may fail during a flood. Most mainline backwater valves come with a see-through top so you can check to see if it is clogged with debris. The valve should be checked regularly to ensure that it will function properly when it is needed. You will likely need the help of a qualified master plumber to carry out maintenance, repair and replacements of the valve.

Directing Sewage To One Direction
A mainline backwater valve is placed directly into the sewer lateral at the foot of your basement wall, allowing sewage to flow in only one direction – out of your house. When sewage begins to move toward your basement, the valve closes. Some municipalities offer subsidies to offset the cost of installing a backwater valve, as long as you follow their rules.

Backwater Valve In Your Home
Proper placement and installation of the backwater valve is extremely important. If placed in the wrong location relative to other plumbing fixtures on the sanitary lateral, the valve could be bypassed and provide no protection. This can in turn lead to sewer backup pressure which can cause cracks to the basement floor and lead to flooding.
